Yes, you can brew some thick, silky kopi at home too! As long as you can get your hands on some Nanyang Coffee Powder or traditional kopi powder.
We’ve shared 3 simple methods previously, you can read our “How to Make Kopi at home” guide.
Here, we share some of the key kopi roasters in Singapore. Many of them have decades of experience and are lead by lao jiaos. Most of them retail their kopi powder and tea dust to local coffee shops and kopitiams, some even retail their nanyang coffee powder directly to consumers.
They may require a minimum order quantity. If that’s not for you, we sell kopi powder for consumers too.
P.S. this list is NOT exhaustive. We’re constantly on the look out for any kopi roasters whom we may have missed out, ping us if you know anyone who should be on this list!

Nanyang Coffee Powder at your wet market
If you’re in need for urgent supply, take a trip to your wet market.
You’d be surprised that some wet markets house a traditional kopi beans store. They are usually hidden among the dry goods store, let your nose be the guide and you’ll find them.
These stores tend to have a wide range of coffee beans you can choose from. Many of these stores sell coffee powder in smaller quantities of 200 to 500g. Some even have their own coffee blends that are mixed and ground, on demand. Although it may feel intimidating initially, go ahead and ask the store owner for recommendations if you’re not sure what to start with.

Same same but different?!
A common question we’ve been getting is: “are kopi powders all the same?”
Short answer: No.
Pre packed kopi powders are usually a blend. Depending on the roaster and their blend recipe, you’ll find that these blends vary base on several factors:
- type of coffee beans; most kopi powders include robustas. Some roasters will add in liberica or even lower grade arabica as a selling point.
- fillers; most kopi blends will include fillers (mainly corn). Using corn helps to bring down the cost of the final kopi powder, hence you find different ‘grades’ of kopi powder in the market, priced differently.
- sugar and margarine: these are usually added during the roasting process to give that classic toasty, nutty, (some say burnt) taste of kopi.
Do note that although the list above are generally true, it may vary from roaster to roaster. However, most kopi roasters do not share the details in their blend, which is one of the reasons why transparency in specialty coffee attracted early customers.
If you’re curious about the details of your blend, please approach your roaster or supplier. (P.S. We really cannot tell what’s in your kopi blend, even if you send us photos)
