The Indo Estate Coffee was purchased in a small, quiet cafe located on a street of a busy market in Bali.
Hidden behind the single hinge door lies a cosy cafe that seats just 4 people at the first level.
It was a quiet cafe and we were the only customers at the time of visit.

Heading up a narrow and steep stairway, a wide and homey balcony comes into view. The perfect hideout for travellers and backpackers who need a break.

A cafe with a hidden hideout with great ambience. This cafe was a definitely an unexpected discovery.

Indo Estate Coffee – Special Blends

Prepackaged coffee beans were sold in this little cafe. From the suspicious looking kopi luwak that could be found in almost every coffee retailer in Bali, to the Indo Estate Coffee series.
Bought the Indo Estate Coffee (Whole Beans) on the word of the Barista that this was the exact coffee they were using at the cafe during our visit.
And hence, you could imagine the disappointment I felt when I opened the bag in Singapore.
Instead of the uniformed blend of medium-dark roast coffee beans spotted at the cafe, this bag of coffee blend contained a mix of beans that were of different degree of roast.
On top of that, some of the beans appeared to have obvious defects.
Perhaps this explains the ‘special blends’ label on the coffee package.
Tasting
Despite the initial disappointment, the first cup surprised me instead.
Note: the first cup was brewed via a drip brew. cupping was not done.
Featuring a strong body, with a hint of fruity acidity and a milky after taste, this Bali Kintamani Special Blend provided a comforting cup that reminds me of the balcony hideaway tugged away on the second level of this Bali cafe.
Chance of re-purchase?
No.
Despite the comforting cup this blend provides, I am still not able to get over the fact that the barista gave me utterly wrong information about the beans.
And, I am sure there are many coffee flavors in Bali to be explored.
Conclusion
Unfortunately, I do not have any records or recollection of the exact location of this cafe in Bali.
I do hope that I can rediscover this cafe during my future visits.
